Jeffrey Smith is a graduate of Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed his residency in general surgery at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals in Saginaw, Michigan where he was awarded the Ziele Outstanding Junior Resident and the Resident Teacher of the year. Dr. Smith has served as the Chief of Staff at Gratiot Medical Center and is a Trustee for the Gratiot Medical Center Board.

Ernest A. Cudjoe, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Ernest Cudjoe is a graduate of East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. He completed his residency in general surgery at Morristown Memorial University Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, as the Chief Surgical Resident. He was awarded the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award and the US Surgical Laparoscopic Resident Award. He completed his fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at North Shore – Long Island Jewish University Hospital in Manhasset, NY.

James D. Pilkington, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Board Certified General and Bariatric Surgeon, James Pilkington, specializes in general, bariatric, and laparoscopic surgeries. He has been performing gastric bypass surgery in Mount Pleasant since 2000. Dr. Pilkington is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and completed his residency in surgery at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. Dr. Pilkington is trained in the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure and sleeve gastrectomy laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (lap band).

Jeffrey L. Bonacci, M.D.

Jeffrey Bonacci received his bachelors from Central Michigan University, then attended Michigan State University Medical School for his Medical degree. Dr. Bonacci completed his internship and residency at Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center of MSU. While in school, Dr. Bonacci earned the Medical School Clerkship Honors Designation as well as Medical School Commendation in Gross Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Epidemiology, Neuroanatomy, Human Behavior and Development.
